Globally iconic leader in the provision and operation of studio space for the film and television production industries
Pinewood is an iconic independent British business recognised as a world-leader in the ownership, leasing and operation of studio and related space used primarily for film and television content production. Over its 80-year history, Pinewood has hosted some of the best known films and television shows, including 23 of the 25 James Bond films and several Star Wars and Marvel films. The company has an international presence, with the majority of its activities occurring at two freehold properties outside central London. The locations afford access to London’s vibrant creative industries, with a long-established English speaking talent pool and “eco-system”.
In 2016, Fund III acquired 100% of the shares of Pinewood, which was listed on the United Kingdom’s Alternative Investment Market exchange, and subsequently delisted the company. During Fund III’s ownership, various strategic growth initiatives were implemented including (i) a re-focusing of the business on studio infrastructure, (ii) a significant UK expansion doubling the existing stage space, and (iii) a transformation of the income profile from short-term contracts to long-term, inflation-protected agreements with the major studios.
In 2022, Fund III sold Pinewood to PGV SCSp, an Aermont managed entity, established for the purpose of owning and expanding Pinewood.
